ROOM 4 NEWSLETTER
Dear Room 4 Parents
Welcome back
for Term 4. We
are happy to have four new students in Room 4. Harry, Libby, Ryan and Tangike
join us from Room 5.
We have a very busy term
ahead of us. The first of the many activities is the Athletics Day on Wednesday
30 October. We will be training most days, so please send your child to school
in footwear that they can run in.
Twilight Market
Our annual Burnham School
Expo on November 7, will include a Twilight Market, where pupils will sell the
products they have made as part of the “Bang for Your Buck” Inquiry. Room 4
will be making pinecone birdfeeders and bath bombs.
Sunhats are a compulsory part of
our uniform in Term 4. Please ensure your child has a wide brimmed hat that is
clearly named. Any
other clothing items you may require are available from the PTA on Monday
afternoons.
Room 4 Homework
Your
child will continue to bring home Reading Books four nights a week and Poetry
on Fridays. Please try and make this Reading, part of your child’s daily
routine. This daily practice helps build confidence and fluency, as their
Reading skills develop.
Spelling
As well as reading, most children will bring home “Turtle”
Spelling. This is very similar to the Turtle Reading Words your child will have
already had. They will begin with very basic words and progress to more difficult
ones as the term progresses. As the words are learnt, I will mark them off on
the Turtle, as they are mastered, but I am quite happy for you to tick them off
as you test your child.
Gluesticks and Whiteboard Pens
We have now used all the gluesticks and whiteboard pens that
you provided at the beginning of the year. I would be very grateful if each
child could bring one of each, to help us get through until the end of the
year.
Brainfood
Please remember that Brainfood should be a small healthy snack,
that can be eaten in approximately five minutes. Peeling and eating an orange or a whole apple
takes too long, especially if the tooth fairy has already paid a visit.
Segments or wedges in a plastic bag or box are fine. Water bottles are welcome,
but no fizzy or sports drinks please.
Library Day is Friday. Please ensure the books travel to and from school in a
plastic bag or similar, to help protect them from damage in schoolbags.
Please feel free to see me if you have any concerns regarding
your child. You are always welcome in Room 4 and I’m happy to help if I can.
